What Was and What Will Be
Sometimes when the night gets too quiet and too dark
She wondered if she had dreamt it all
Fragments that seemed so unreal and yet ever consuming, engulfed her entire being
An event of transformation simultaneously became an effort to keep her all the same,
a phenomenon so significant yet so ordinary
A bridge between what was and what will be
Ever moving, ever present
Images ever so vivid in her eyes and in her mind
Flashes of moments showed up knocking as if to say
“Hey, it’s me again. Keep me alive!”
Memories of how she was front and centre, focused and enamoured
What a beauty it was, so captivating and so true
An enlightenment as bright as the sun and she wondered
Where has it been all these years?
“You are the one thing I have always been searching for,
you made me remember how it feels to live and knowing why I want to live”
Oh, how she wished you knew
Nights of wild laughs and insane dances, never to be done again
Only once, but once is enough because once is all she needed
One time, done twice… lasts a lifetime
Eyes twinkling with hope as if nothing will ever come close to this again
She was right, nothing ever did because it was then and only then
that she began to understand
How something so bitter can tasted very sweet afterwards
“Because I never want you to forget it”
And she will never does because she can still feel it
If she closed her eyes tight enough
Always looking up to watch and listen
Everything revealed to her as if she had never been illuminated before
What a gift you are to a bleak world in desperate need of colour
So colourful it was that it blinded everyone in its path
Nothing is more paramount than the shades you added into the world
The world filled with dreams scattered around messily
Desperate to be picked up and shone at for once
Lighting it up with the brightest hues, it glimmered as it had never before
Perfection is what it meant when she seeked for the truth
But the farthest you are from it, the more she was intrigued
It’s too good to be true and it may hurt a lot but for God’s sake
It is addicting to crave the pain
Uncertainties clouded and ever present
Morality questioned while an etiquette is present
Something to remember her by, possibly not a thing
But a memory, a laugh, a moment, and an interest
What’s temporary and what’s a potential
Something to remember even if it was a goner
Knowing exactly where the heart is
Gun to the head, choose wisely
She knows what she fancy
Even if the barrier stood in the way
Of what’s real and of morality
In this lifetime, impossible is the way
But who dares to deny her the opportunity to aim for what comes next?
Even if the next life threatened to be colourless
At least the chance for second round have yet to come
The desire to embrace the uncertainties have never been stronger
The definite have always been attractive
For once it seems that the risk posed
Bares no challenge against the rewards promised
As if the power to will the universe giving what she claimed to be hers
Will come her way as sure as day
Time will answer in due course
Determining what was and what will be
Though the course is directed by her hands
Because in this life, she has never been sure of anything but herself
