Gaze

The story was written with this song in mind as the idea sparked during a listen.

Dim lights surrounded the territory of those who wished for escapism even for just a moment. Flashes of blue and purple engulfing the erected frames of those who spin and twirl. It didn’t leave out those etched in the corners and against the walls. All minding their own business, occasionally sipping liquid from the glasses they grip in their hands. For those who settled down, opting for a low-key distraction, they are left to observe. From left to right, from corner to corner, from faces to faces.

Eyes were looking everywhere, searching anywhere, avoiding whoever is doing the same thing. Everyone was doing the same and yet their goal of steering clear of each other’s gaze were obvious as the darkness of the night which stayed with them throughout. That was until one sultry gaze met yours. Any pair of eyes would have looked away the moment they settled on another, and yet that pair of eyes and yours locked as if securing each other’s presence. Them at one end of the room and you at the other.

You sipped your drink, wondering if the contact would cease but to your surprise… it stayed. Mirroring you as they enjoyed their own sip of refreshments. They stood up from their place, eyes firmly on you as they blink once. A blink so calculated as if they were afraid you would be gone the second they opened their eyes again. You stayed in place, their smirk began to show. Intrigued, they stepped forward and placed their empty glass on a moving tray. Grabbing a shot from another moving tray, they took their shot in one go, and left it on a random table as their determined steps made its way slowly straight ahead.

It was as if time moves in a manner slower than normal, their movements so cautious yet so eager. Each step increased their attraction to you. Your eyes are the object of desire, never leaving their curious pair even for a second. You fixed your hair in place as you began to stand up. Startling your interested suitor, halting their step in place for a brief moment. As you begin to take your step towards your right, they watch you with such attention. Quickly recovering their tracks, following where you’re going.

You made your way to the back of the bar. Your steps hurriedly made its way to the narrowing hallway. You look behind your shoulders slightly to check if they were following you. They were smirking at you, not far behind you as if they were ready to worship you. You chuckled softly, making a swift turn to the left. A dark hallway with one light in the middle. They caught up with you, smiling like a predator finally meeting its prey.

Ironic.

Their steps slowed down. You were leaning your back against the wall with an inviting gaze, flirtatious in its nature. They walked towards you, their hands rubbing either side of your arms. Smiling naughtily at you as they closed the gap between your bodies. Your faces inched closer and you tilted yours to the side. Giving the opportunity for them to seal your lips together in a kiss furiously possessive. Embracing each other as you prolonged the lustful contact. A soft and tender release was done, continuing your kiss downwards along their jawline, lower to their neck, until you finally felt the faint steady beat.

It was rushing inside them, the temptation was strong enough. Your eyes blinked and widened in excitement. It was what you were doing here tonight anyway. You were thirsty, hungry, you got the urge, and you needed the escape. It was perfect. You thought of the sweet taste of liquid gliding down your tongue the moment your teeth sunk in their flesh. A gasp was heard faintly and a shake of the body prompted you to hold them firmly with your hands. Sucking the fresh juice of life that you desperately craved. Long gone was the sultry gaze as you let go, only a shock plastered on their face as the predator became the prey.
